Hello!
Everybody ready for conference? If you need a carpool connection, let me know and I will try to connect you. If you have an item for the booth, get it to Kathy Mc ASAP. She will need the following information for the cards: First, last name, item name, technique, description. The following people have signed up for booth time: Stephenie, Laura, Cathy KB, Wendy, Carol.
SHEEP TO SHAWL
Sacramento County Fair's Sheep-to-Shawl contest is May 24. Stephenie is again judging this year, so any conversations regarding this event will be done off line. If you want to be part of the team, please contact me ASAP. So far, we have Laura, Pat, Wendy, Carol, Cathy KB, possibly Kathy Mc, with Janice Johnson as an alternate. The team consists of 3 spinners, 1 plyer, 1 weaver, 1 gofer.
HOLIDAY GIFT EXCHANGE
At the April meeting, we agreed to the idea of exchanging a word. This can be any one word that means something to you -- a color, a place, a verb or action word, an emotion. Using the word as inspiration, the gifter will create a fiber-related gift for the giftee. We usually start this gift exchange in September, but lately that has not been enough time so we will be doing starting this exchange at the June meeting. At the April meeting, we agreed to have the giftee identified along with their word, in order to help the gift maker. So bring your special word to the June meeting on a card with your name, also. I will have envelopes for the cards. Make sense?
HOSPICE
We agreed to donate the shawl from the Sac County Fair to Hospice again this year for their auction. If anyone else wishes to donate an item, contact Hospice ASAP.
AMADOR COUNTY FAIR - THEME: "BARNYARD MARDI GRAS - 70 YEARS OF FAMILY FUN"
We had some preliminary discussions at the April meeting and came up with the following ideas. More discussion is the May and finalize at June meeting:
The educational component will be the name drafts
We will recycle the paper mache rock from the CNCH conference and it will go in the back right corner of the booth
Kathy Mc has full-sized donkey head pictures and will put the cotton halter on it
Zelda will have a headdress of feathers (peacock or?) and a mask; Laura has a pink shawl and Kathy Mc has a skirt for her.
We will need mardi gras beads and felt beads
We need some animals to create a barnyard parade behind Zelda. Cathy KB has a large goat puppet and mask.
MAY MEETING
Janice will present the program on flower pounding. Sounds like fun!! Neither Kathy Mc nor myself will be at the May meeting. Times are the usual -- 5 p.m. early dinner at Jose's; 6 p.m. early birds at the senior center; 7 p.m. meeting.
ELECTIONS
The following nominations were made and voting will occur at the May meeting:
PRESIDENT: open
VICE PRESIDENT: Kathy Mc
CO-SECRETARIES: Pat M and Laura
TREASURER: Wendy
LIBRARY: Janice
DUES
Dues were due at the April meeting, $20 per year.

Stephenie's breakfast bars
Cathy,
I brought some breakfast bars to the dye seminar last weekend and would like to share the easy recipe. Could you post this on the guild blog?
BREAKFAST ON THE RUN bars
1 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
2 1/2 c rolled oats (not instant)
1 c shredded coconut
1 c. dried cranberries
1 c. mixed seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, sesame or ???)
1 c. unsalted peanuts
Preheat over 250' & oil 9 X 13 pan
Warm condensed milk in large pan
Meanwhile mix all other ingredients together, then add warmed condensed milk, using spatula to fold in milk.
Spread mix into pan & press down to make surface even.
Bake 1 hr. After removing cut into squares.
I let squares cool on waxed paper. You need to get them out of the pan or you have great granola.
