January News for Ewes

Next meeting: February 19 at the Senior Center. Laura will teach us how to make scrap baskets. Bring yarn thrums (scraps from weaving), small fabric scraps, ribbon bits, thread and a small bowl or container that is the shape and size you would like your basket.

Sacramento Guild Annual Show and Sale: 2nd weekend in February, Shepard's Garden Center in McKinley Park, 10 - 4 Saturday and Sunday.

CNCH conference - - Theme is the California Trail - May 2-4, Sacramento Doubletree Hotel: You can get registration forms online or call Cathy KB for a paper packet. Be sure to look at all the gallery entry options -- California Dreamin' Fashion Show, Over the Rainbow, All that Glitters...Is Not Gold, Spun Treasures, New Beginnings. There will be no conference bag this time -- instead bring your own bag and enter it in the BYOB contest. Accommodations are right at the Doubletree, with up to 4 people per room at about $100 a night. Do the math! Find 3 friends and get your room for $25 a night! Cheaper than driving!

Visits to Friends: Wendy reported on her pleasant afternoon visit to Frank and Mary. They send greetings to the guild. Stephenie told us about her fabulous trip to Oaxaca and shared some wonderful fiber souvenirs. Snowbird Joanne is back in town for a few months and has some galvanized steel in need of a new home. Pat has entered the online freeway and now has email!!

Other stuff: Wendy went over CNCH's available insurance for public events. They need a month or two heads up to get the paperwork going. Estimated cost is $0 - $50 per event.
